On Thursday, July 11, 25 recycling and solid waste professionals toured the
Montgomery County Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station in Derwood MD.
Jeff Camera, Chief of the Resource Conversion Section walked us through the 57-acre campus illustrating the steps taken to maximize the limited footprint which features a transfer station, MRF, yard trim processing, collection of hazardous waste/scrap metal/books/bikes/clothing/electronics/and more as well as a dedicated rail head.
