How can local communities benefit from access to building materials diverted from the waste stream?
In this webinar,
Tom Patzkowski, Director of Donations at
Community Forklift will share the social, economic, and environmental justice impacts of providing equitable access to reusable materials for households with limited resources and community organizations serving the greater good. This presentation will detail the sources of materials in their operation’s warehouse and stores along with the process by which they evaluate, sort and distribute those materials throughout the community.
While
Community Forklift provides access to diverted materials for the public at below-market costs, an essential element of the organization’s mission is to ensure that these same materials also go for free to those who most need it. Since 2011, Community’s Forklift’s community giving programs have distributed over $1,000,000 in free repair supplies, household fixtures, and other building materials to provide a safer, better living environment and to encourage more vibrant communities.
From recently resettled refugee families needing furniture, to households in need of window A/C units during increasingly hot summers, to school groups creating outdoor classrooms and gardens,
Community Forklift will share these stories of impact through reuse to inspire and enlighten participants.
