Inside the NewsLaurel Environmental Programs Manager Michele Blair Meets with MD Lt. Governor re: New Composting Law. In May 2023, the City of Laurel passed a new law requiring mandatory composting for all residents beginning July 1, 2025. On September 5, Michele Blair, along with City leadership and DPW staff, met with Lt. Governor Miller to discuss the law, its environmental and financial benefits, and how it will be implemented over the coming years. Read more.

The contest, held in celebration of America Recycles Day (11/15), challenges Maryland high school students to create works of art using recycled and reclaimed materials.
